Vintage Photo Sunday - What Kind of Getup is that?

This woman is wearing an elaborate dress and hat, or as my mother would have said, "what kind of getup is that?"  She is in Nebraska, but I don't know anything else about the woman, or when this photo was taken.  By looking at her clothing, do you have any ideas of when this could have been taken?  Do you know what is the style called?

Button Jar Buttons

I sorted through butons that my sister sent to me, and put some of the more interesting ones in this cute little jar that she also sent to me.

And, here is what is in the jar.

Vintage Photo Sunday - Oops! In the Ditch

Looks like they ended up in the ditch.  The men are working to get the vehicle out of the ditch, and the women are supervising.  They are pretty dressed up, and probably on their way to some timely event.  Don't know the location or date of this photo, and I can't see the license plate close enough to know where it is from.  It was with a group of photos that are labeled from various parts of  California.

A Little Pillow Surprise

I received this pretty little pillow in the mail yesterday.  It came straight from the EBay seller where my sister purchased it.  The same sweet sister who sent the buttons.

I placed it on the seating area in the bedroom that I created using an antique iron/brass baby crib.  I think it is perfect for this spot.

I loved this crib the minute I spotted it buried in an upper room of an antique store.  It's very sturdy, a baby crib mattress is a perfect fit, and I use the removable railing as a magazine rack.  We redid this little house in Cottage Style, and I liked the way this area turned out.

I made a mattress cover, and pillows using some my vintage textiles.

Butterfly Bushes and Butterflies

The best part of a pretty Butterfly Bush, is the beautiful butterflies it attracks.  Here is a short video of the type that are eating here today.

Button Treasures From My Sister

My sister sent a box of goodies to me the other day.  Here are some of the buttons - aren't they wonderful?  Sweet sister!

These Indian/Buffalo Nickels made into shank buttons are so unique, and there are nine of each.

Fabric Collage Greeting Cards

I like to send handmade cards to family and friends. I made three of them a couple days ago. I used bits of vintage fabric, lace, buttons and images printed on fabric. Each collage is stitched to the front of a card, and vintage sheet music is adhered to the inside of the card to cover the stitches. I left a blank page for the handwritten message.

Vintage Photo Sunday

I haven't written a Vintage Photo Sunday post in a long time.  I have so many old photos, and like to share some of them with you.  Hope you like the ones I chose for today.

Blogoversary Giveaway

I have a blogoversary coming up real soon so I am having a giveaway.  Anyone who leaves a comment on this post will have a chance to win the little quiltie pictured here.  I will draw for a winner on Sunday, July 15 late in the evening.  So if you have not entered before Sunday, you still can enter that day.

I made this quiltie using one of my favorite photos. It is a 1920's photo of a group of women who are probably gathered for a class reunion. They are posing by playground equipment - a Giant Stride - or at least that is what we called it when we were children.  The piece measures 4" x 6" and is ready to hang.  The photo is printed onto white cotton, and the fabrics, trims and button are all vintage.  Good luck, and I hope you will enjoy it.
