Long Overdue Post - Zion National Park

Utah has beautiful National Parks, and we spent a day in Zion. It is so beautiful. But because it is so large, we only saw a portion if it. Here are a few pictures for you to see.

Brewery Artwalk 2013

My sister took me to visit the Brewery Artwalk in LA last weekend, and it was so much fun.  It got its name because the buildings used to house a brewery, but now they house artists' lofts and their studios.  It is a sprawling place, with a Bohemian flair.  Some lofts are on the ground floor with interesting garden/patio spaces, and some are located in multistory buildings.  Quite a few have a view of the LA skyline that must look amazing at night.  I did not photograph the artists' work, and only took a couple of photos of the interiors after asking permission.  You can see more about the Brewery, the artists who participate and their artwork by going to the link.

Huntington Library & Gardens 2013

We try to visit the Huntington Library & Gardens once a year because it is such a lovely place.  Besides the permanent collection, there are special exhibits and of course the beautiful gardens.  The Cactus Garden was in bloom as well as many plants in the Chinese & Japanese Gardens.

The Getty in Early Spring 2013

My sister and I enjoy going to the Getty together every year.  The weather was perfect, just under 80, and the gardens had reopened since were were there last.  If you get out to Los Angeles the Getty is a must see - you won't be disappointed.

These looked like Azaleas to me, but not quite sure

Beautiful buildings

At the end of the day we chose to walk down to the parking garage rather than ride the tram.  It is all downhill, so is very easy even though it looks like quite a ways.  That is the Getty on the hill in the background, and the tram as it passed us.

James Neville Vititoe - Dec 1919 - Feb 2013

Sadly, my father in-law passed away on February 8, 2013.  James was a loving, wonderful man, and we are all going to miss him greatly.  We love you James.

Marilyn in Palm Springs

Snapped this photo of a huge statue of Marilyn in Palm Springs. I'm not sure if she is here to stay, or if she is here for the Palm Springs Film Festival that is going on now.

Vintage Photo Sunday - Brother and Sister

I realize I haven't posted in a long time, but I've been busy since getting back to California.  Really.  Well sort of, kind of.  OK, just a bad blogger.

Today I want to share an old photo with you.  On Thanksgiving my friend gave me another box of old photos.  Did I say how much I love old photos.  This photo is of two young children, perhaps brother and sister.  I don't have any idea of the date, but the clothing is unique and should give clues about when it was taken.  The girls hair is done in long ringlets, and her shoes are tied with sashes.  Do any of you have any ideas?
