Abandoned Charm

I took a few pictures over the past few days that I thought I would share with everyone. This group features abandoned buildings - commercial buildings, homes and barns. I am always struck by how beautiful they are, and how nice it is that they are still standing. Everyone may not share this idea. But, after looking at these pictures, you may just change your mind. Enjoy!

Wicker Corner

I repainted the wicker chair an ivory color, and made a cushion from a tea dyed linen tablecloth with a rose motif. I rearranged my sewing room so I can utilize the chair when I take a break from sewing.

The print on the wall above the chair, is a gift from my artist sister in Los Angeles. She is a member of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society, and had two pieces selected by jury into a show last fall in Riverside, CA at the Riverside Art Museum. This signed print is one of the images that was selected for the show. I love it!

Rineyville Days - 2008

This morning I could hear what I knew was the sound of a hot air balloon. Sure enough, as I looked out the front window I could see it - I knew Rineyville Days was about to get underway. Small town pride at its best!

The parade was at 10 am, and The Fort Knox Army Band lead the way. Then came the firetrucks, tractors, old cars, motorcycles and horses. Not necessarily in that order. I forget just what the order was, but I took a few pictures of the parade to share with you here. There were other activities during the day, but I am only posting about the parade.

September - Swap Your Stash Challenge

I like to add images to the little quilties I make. This image of a young woman hanging laundry on a clothesline, from Luna Girl Images, was perfect to compliment the fabrics I received for the September challenge.

I used the fabrics and lace to mimic the background in the image: Blue lace sky, pink & white striped cotton fence, green cotton grass, and white eyelet clothes hang on the silver fabric clothesline.
